The Rolling Stones kicked off the American leg of their “50 and Counting” tour this Saturday with a sold-out show at Brooklyn’s brand new Barclay’s Center arena. The band celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and their appearance at the new home of the Brooklyn Nets marks their first stateside gig since 2006.
Though the lads were down two members - bassist Bill Wyman and guitarist Mick Taylor stayed behind in London – New York’s own R&B diva Mary J. Blige helped welcome Mick and Keef and Ron and drummer Charlie Watts back to American stages with a monster vocal performance on their 1969 classic “Gimme Shelter” (video courtesy of Bad Boy View, via Youtube).
Fifty never sounded so good…
